(confirm with Lock Keepers) Be prepared to leave (say) 1 hour before above time. Ensure a
cool but running engine,
good ropes, anchor and buoyancy aids. |

The Selby bypass crosses two navigable waterways:
the Selby Canal and the tidal River Ouse
As the tidal River Ouse still carries shipping to Selby, the spectacular new
bridge over the river,
a mile downstream from Selby, is able to swing through ninety degrees with
traffic light controls.
