Narrowboat 'Bunbury' stems the tidal ebb
(having first 'rounded up' just prior to Selby Lock on her return from Naburn Lock)
When the lock is ready she will 'drop back' - though effectively travelling forward in the water !
And then enter the lock - taking care of the 'slack water' near the lock entrance.
Narrowboat 'Bunbury' now entering Selby Lock
(there are always 'gongoozlers' watching for any mistakes !!!!)
Use short ropes forward & aft around yellow 'slide cables' when penning up the lock.
(Do not use just the loose 'end' of a long line -
this leaves the boat free & the Skipper / Crew tied to the slide cable !!!
if a long line is used, pass it right through & hold only the end from the slide cable)
