BANJO TOUR OF BEAUTIFUL DIXIE

You probably know that the term Dixie comes from the French 10 franc note
issued in New Orleans , right? Dix is French for 10, and the Anglos called New Orleans the Land of the Dixies.

I grew up thinking it had to do with the Mason-Dixon Line . Then one night in the French Quarter, I made a beer run to the Walgreens Drug Store around the corner from the Royal Sonesta. There on the wall was a plaque, explaining that this very building was the original Bank of New Orleans, and the original home of the Dixie ....
